The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) claims that the average pay for automotive technicians is $46,970 per year and diesel technicians earn $54,360 annually. However, our extensive network of over 1,000 shops on WrenchWay, along with numerous industry connections, tells a different story.

At WrenchWay, we believe that accurate information is crucial for making informed decisions about your career. We feel people considering entering the industry are being misled by these numbers causing fewer people to pursue a career in the industry. We want to change that by presenting accurate information.

In order to get a better understanding of the earning potential of technicians in different regions and throughout various stages of their careers, WrenchWay is launching our first annual Technician Pay Survey!

Why Participate?

In order to present accurate data around technician pay, we need to hear from you—the technicians!

By taking three minutes to share your insights, you contribute to building a comprehensive and realistic picture of technician compensation across different regions and career stages.

How to Participate

This survey is now available to complete online through February 29, 2024. The survey takes about three minutes to complete. Individual responses are anonymous, and your insights will help us compile a comprehensive report that reflects the true earning potential of technicians in the field. The survey data will be aggregated based on location, type of shop, experience level, type of pay plans, and more. A full report will be released in March 2024.
